Jogging and walking

Mammee Bay is a residential development containing mostly single-family dwellings, each of which is on a large lot. If you like to jog and take long walks you will love the quiet roadways that cut through Mammee Bay, which contains RIVIERA_VILLA.

If you prefer having very private but nevertheless vigorous walks, put on good walking shoes or sneakers, and just walk INSIDE the fence that surrounds the edge of the Villa property -- about 250 metres to go around once!

Do that six times in a row and you will appreciate how much you can do to keep fit without ever leaving the property! Here's one reason why. The property slopes upward from the Beach Road, giving you a gentle hill-climbing experience. This walk is better than walking on the road if you need to pamper your knees as you walk. This is because of the thick layer of grass under your feet.

At the nearby Mammee Bay Beach Club you can get information about or arrange for deep sea fishing, horse-back riding, water skiing, sailing, snorkelling, etc. for fees. There is an 18 hole golf course at Runaway Bay (30 minutes drive away).

Fun and games on nearby hotel property

You can visit either the Ocho Rios Riu or the Jewel hotels (both very close to RIVIERA_VILLA) and arrange for limited passes for breakfast, lunch or dinners, including entertainment. These passes are for couples. The dinner pass covers the period from early evening to after midnight, and when we last checked it costs a couple about $120 (US$). That covers dinner, shows, games, etc. Once you have your pass, you can enjoy every amenity available to the regular hotel guests.

At the Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios you can purchase a pass to the pools, and enjoy a whole day of fun, frolic and eating at their buffets. The Spa Resort is located inside the Grande. There are several pools, often supervised games at one of them, and a big beach with many chairs. There is well-established taxi service to take you to and from the Grande.

For those who are quite happy to return to a small hotel room for sleeping each night, what these hotels offer is hard to beat. But for those who want to have 'the whole family' in a 'home away from home' where the staff gives you extra personal recognition and attention, a reasonably priced villa (like Riviera) that has good access to many 'fun' places is also hard to beat.
